The Jakarta Concert Orchestra (JCO) was founded in 2002 by Avip Priatna, Mag. Art., and Prof. Dr. Toeti Heraty Roosseno. Comprising professional musicians from various cities across Indonesia, the orchestra has presented a remarkable array of concerts, both home and abroad, featuring masterpieces by esteemed composers such as Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, John Williams, Gershwin,Vivaldi, Stevie Wonder, Ron Miller, Brian May, Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and Michael Jackson to name but a few!
Avip Priatna, Mag. Art., stands among Indonesia’s most distinguished conductors. He honed his skills in orchestral conducting under the renowned Maestro Leopold Hager, and in choral conducting with Prof. Gunther Theuring at the prestigious MDW – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, Vienna, Austria. Supported by the Austrian government and a Rotary Club scholarship, Avip immersed himself in Vienna’s rich musical tradition, joining some of the city’s finest choirs and serving as assistant conductor of the Wiener Jeunesse Choir. In 1998, he earned his Master’s degree (Magister Artium) from MDW, with further scholarship support from Parahyangan Catholic University.
